The pictures on the right show the culmination of my Artist in Residence period at a local secondary school.
The theme of the project was Contagion , forty students created stunning costumes and works of wearable art as part of their AS and A level studies.
This is my piece for the project.
If you got to Painswick in Gloucestershire last July to visit the new and vibrant Wearable Art Festival not only would you have had a great day but you would have seen very creative design.
To crown a great day Rachel had entered to the Independent Designers category with a wonderful dress entitled "Dressed to a Tea" and, despite some stiff competition, was the best on the catwalk.
Fashion designer Savannah Miller headed a star-studded panel of judges. She was be joined by sculptor Dan Chadwick and fashion designer Selina Blow, who judged last year's popular event, milliner Stephen Jones and artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster.
Rachel was very pleased to be given the first prize of £1000 by Grayson Perry, the Turner Prize winning ceramicist.
Many thanks to Rachel's model for the day, the lovely Holly Higgins, whose serenity was maintained during the long show and judging process.
